Team-Based Health Care

I believe a team-based approach to health ensures the best possible outcome for you. I am open to working with your family doctor, specialists, midwives and any other practitioners to help you get the best care. I work alongside your current medications or treatments to ensure that what we do is safe and gives you the most supportive treatment possible.

Laboratory Testing

Lab tests are a key step to get a clearer picture on your health. Standard annual blood work that is considered "fine" or "normal" may not be optimal for you in your situation. We review your blood work together looking for optimal levels. If we still need more answers, functional medicine tests can often fill in the gaps on what is causing your concerns.

Outcome-Focused Treatments

You will never leave your appointment with a bag full of supplements. My job is to understand what is causing your concerns. When we have a grasp of what is really going on, our treatments are targeted + effective. That means simpler protocols, and quicker results.

Treatment Tool-Kit

Treaments

"My goal is to get you back to feeling like yourself again,

using safe, effective & natural treatments that work with your body."

Your treatment plan has to be do-able & effective. We always build it together based on what you can commit to & the outcomes you are looking for.

We add more of what supports you, and minimize the things that are working against you.

Most of the time, this involves dietary changes, lifestyle habits/practices and herbal & nutritional supplements. When needed, I can refer you for nutrient infusions/injections.

I have further training in homeopathic medicine, and see this modality really shine in pregnancy, treating children, & also in the mental/emotional factors that may be behind the physical concerns.

When needed, I draw on additional certification in environmental medicine & detoxification, healthy lifestyle coaching & weight loss programs.

Lab Testin

Laboratory Testing

A combination of standard blood work & functional medicine testing is often a key step to understanding what is causing your health concerns.

Standard Blood Work

We start with the basics. We use any recent testing you've had at your family doctor, or I may recommend that you ask your family doctor for certain tests. Our goal is that your levels are in an optimal range for health, not just within the 'normal' range.

Functional Medicine Testing

Lab testing that takes a deeper look at your health can often answer many questions about what is going on. These tests are usually home-based collection kits, and always come from accredited, high-quality labs in the U.S. and Canada.

Some of the functional medicine tests that I often recommend include:

Dried Urine Hormone Testing

Adrenal Function (stress) Hormone Urine Test

Microbiology Stool Analysis

Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis (CDSA)

Organic Acid Urine Test (OATs)

Comprehensive Prenatal & Preconception Nutrient Testing

Omega-3 Index, Vitamin D, Urinary Iodine Testing

Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) Breath Test

Heavy Metal & Environmental Pollutants Urine Test

and others...

I came to see Dr. Keshia with what I thought was an ear infection. She checked out out my ear and I was surprised when she told me that the infection had spread and it was quite serious. I am so grateful she knew to tell me to go and get medical attention.

I was never the same after a concussion I had while curling. I had done a lot of rehabilitation and healing, but my mood, sleep, memory and focus were still a challenge, even a year later. Dr. Keshia's suggestions helped me start to feel like myself again! It is still a work in progress, but with her help, I've come such a long way!

-M.D.

After struggling with frequent urination for years, Dr. Keshia was the first to give me a clear reason for my difficulties and put me on a plan that made sense. After four weeks, I can report that my symptoms have improved significantly! Thanks to her, I am no longer planning my life around bathroom breaks.
